Accredited Teaching Centre of Gem--A, The Gemmological Association of Great Britain

Individual Member of Gem--A, The Gemmological Association of Great Britain
I am a gemmologist who is difficult to define. Whilst I specialise in practical gem testing focussing on efficiency and simplicity, I am also a teacher, a writer and a dealer at heart. I entered the jewellery industry 20 years ago and have since had a varied career encompassing retail, manufacture, appraisal, pawnbroking, education and dealing in pre-owned gemstones and jewellery. I left employment to focus my time on Gemmology Rocks, the main mission of which is to deliver affordable, accessible and commercially relevant gemmology education and support to individuals and small businesses outside London and Birmingham.
I have delivered workshops and seminars at a number of conferences including the Scottish Gemmological Association, the Institute of Registered Valuers’, and Gemworld International, and have had articles published in a number of trade magazines, including Gem-a’s Gems & Jewellery, NAJ’s The Jeweller magazine as well as the Gemworld publication. I currently teach the Diploma in Gemmology and the Diamonds for Gem-a, and am a Gem-A Approved Practical Provider, and run workshops all over the UK. Already an Alumni of GIA, I am a student myself again in the final stages of earning the Graduate Gemology Diploma.
